The Meaning of The Wall

In the Haruki Murakami’s speech called “Always on the Side of the Egg,” Murakami tells us there is a deeper meaning to the quote” “Between a high, solid wall and an egg that breaks against it, I will always stand on the side of the egg.” The deeper meaning of this metaphor is that the the egg are us, while the wall represent the “System.” A question that arise when reading about this was that why did he choose to write the “System”? Is it because he wants to leave it up to our interpretation? Or is he mentioning the System as a societal construct?
